Michael McDowell confirmed as Progressive Democrats Party Leader

Monday 11th September 2006

Progressive Democrats General Secretary John Higgins has confirmed that Michael McDowell has today been nominated as Party Leader by Tom Parlon and seconded by Liz O'Donnell.
Mr Higgins said Minister McDowell is therefore deemed elected as Party Leader.
"On behalf of the entire Party I would like to congratulate Michael McDowell and wish him every success in his new role. He will make an excellent Party Leader as we look prepare ourselves for the election ahead," he said.

Parliamentary Party Chairman John Dardis also welcomed the announcement.

"The Progressive Democrats will continue as an effective partner in Government, and a Party that will attract increase support in the next election," the Senator said.
